REVIEW: Sectioned - Purulent Reality

Sectioned - Purulent Reality
In the not very famous town Broadstairs, England in 2006, Zoltan Valter for the Hungarian black gang Frost launches Sectioned. IIin 2007 they release demo "Elme", made some changes to in the line-up ... play live with the beasts from Thanatos and gaining more power. Some songs are long and hope not to bore the fans, because there really is so much to hear in their first album, to be sure just hear Behind My Eyes. Nice to listen death metal, not very fast but this is not equivalent. The vocals stand out plenty, but nothing is perfect in this world. Reminiscent of old school death metal, and that caresses the ear and generally Purulent Reality is a good album.

Interview: 1349

1349 - The Demon reborn.
We present you the basist Seidemann!

With you last album you've changed your style from old school black metal to
experimental-avantgarde black metal. Can we expect something like that with the new one
Demonoir?
Seidemann: Demonoir shows 1349 at its most brutal, aggressive and sinister so it will be a different experience from the previous album. There is an abundance of blastbeasts and riffs played at breakneck speed, and the album will most likely feel like a spiritual successor to Hellfire.

Do you feel need to change the sound and the unique atmosphere of 1349?
S: 1349 is a musical journey to the dark side and as such I feel we have never lost our own unique atmosphere even though the material has been to some weird places. We have now been through most facets of black metal to prove to ourselves and the world
that we understand the true nature of it.

I've noticed that the song names in the album are strange. Is the album conceptual?
S: There is a concept behind the title and the artwork but the album itself is not a
concept album. I guess you are referring to the «Tunnels of Set» that make their
appearances several times during the album. These are the paths to hell and will set the mood properly for the ordeals that follow.

Tell us more about the recording process.
S: We recorded everything at STUDIO STUDIO NYHAGEN, just like the 3 previous albums. The studio is situated in a forest in a sparsely populated area of Norway and is also built on what is believed to be the site of solar worship and sacrifice so as you can guess there is a lot of energy and feeling to the place. Perfect for Demonoir and perfect for 1349.

What was the feeling when the album was entirely finished?
S: Demonoir was a physically and mentally challenging album to record so when we were
finished we were immensely satisfied with the results we had achieved.

Is there any chance to bring your music back to the beginning, so old school and raw?
S: We will not suddenly jump back 10 years and do «liberation» again. We have moved
forward, and the music will evolve along with us. Stagnation is musically and mentally a very debilitating experience.

Did you hear the new album of OV HELL - The Underworld Regime. There plays Teloch from your band. Is he really out of 1349?
S: No, he is not out since he was never really in 1349. He was a session guitarist for us on several gigs and tours.

How would you explain the fast growth of the black metal?
S: Black metal has been around for a long time but if I go along with your question I can say that certain events in the early nineties as well as unrivaled musicianship, dedication and innovation helped black metal grow. Not always in the right directions
mind you.

What is the general idea behind the title of the album - Demonoir?
S: This is a play on words, originating from discussions/suggestions from Frost &
Archaon, and when Frost finally came up with that title we knew it was the right one-
we've used short, hard- hitting album titles before (LIBERATION, HELLFIRE) and we simply liked the taste of this suggestion. It summed up the contents as well as capturing the spiritual vein of 1349.

Who did the artwork of the album?
S: Our friend Kenneth Nilsen who runs a dedicated metal record store here in Oslo.

What can you tell us about the satanic concept in the lyrics. Is it something leading
for 1349?
S: 1349 is a black metal band, so the ideology behind it is of the darker kind, but since we have abstained from exaggerated use of the word Satan in our lyrics I guess few people have seen us as a satanic band. Lyrics must fit the song and must fit the overall mood and spirit in the band. Thematically we have always been in the realms of the «satanic» as we are all ego-sentric and gods of our own lives. When all this is said I personally write lyrics based on all possible realms of influences, most notably horror writers like H.P.Lovecraft and Clive Barker, but also from mundane hapenings like the inconcievable stupidity of the human race.

What should we expect next from you?
S: As always you must expect the unexpected. We will be out touring and playing festivals a lot this year with Frost behind the kit, so expect aural Hellfire wherever we go.

Thank you very much for this interview, say something to your fans in Bulgaria.
S: Thank you for the interview. See you on tour!

REVIEW: Iconocaust - Judas Complex

[BAD REVIEW WARNING]

"And the Lord said to them - propagate in this land". And then thousands of metalcore bands flooded the world. And we shrieked at the beginning. Throughout all the trash we can hardly understand which group is which - all sounded the same. So it is with band from Colorado Iconocaust and their new album Judas Complex. Here's what critics say for them. "Melodic brutality filled with originality". "Really one of the most talented bands of today". Oh, big words, but lacking any coverage. Just listen to the clean vocals in the song Lies of the Betrayer and see that some people just are not up to sing. The playing is on a good level, but offers us nothing new. And personally I think that melodic death metal or metalcore should not be shoved into "religious" framework, as done by the group because it is funny. On some sites have really fresh ideas, especially the song Nazi's Torch. Not bad to read the text of this piece, its cool! It is only song, that a total of nine songs I liked.

REVIEW: Morowe - Pieklo.Labirynty.Diably

"Morowe a lethal mix of melancholy and chaos. Morowe is the devil's breath in your neck. In case of contact with blood - burn and infect her, when it reaches the heart - it kills it". This is written in the biography of the Polish death / black metal band Morowe. Pretty cold and dark is the new album "Pieklo.Labirynty.Doably.". Slow, depressing and chilling sound simultaneously, combining modern technique of death metal as Behemoth and progressive outpourings such as Ihsahn and Peccatum. The album was recorded in 2008-2009 in Poland, but unknown reasons (probably financial) sees the light of day until June 2010-a. Deserves to be heard! The band shows full devotion to Satan and darkness, and we poured with aggressive music and once again prove that the Polish metal scene continues to grow and is a worthy competitor to the big monsters. I recommend to listen to eight songs, but those who are not familiar with the Polish language like me, can not understand anything, because all the album lyrics are in Polish.

REVIEW: Milking The Goatmachine - Back From The Goats

Did you ever milked a goat? It's Extreme. And it smells pretty bad. Just like the new musical sensation "Milking The Goatmachine". Back to the Goats e filled with good "melodies" and fresh ideas. Under the wing of Nuclear Blast, the gang with goat masks plays brutal death-core with funny song titles such as Sour Milk Boogie, Surf Goataragua, Feed The Goat. Cruel is a mockery with Bolt Thrower in the song Goat Thrower. In the flood of metal bands market lately, milker of the goats are distinguished by their style of playing, low-tuned guitars and jokingly changing our perceptions of brutal lyrics. Once again be convinced that Nuclear Blast do not have random groups. If you are a fan of herd animals, this is your album. Particularly perverse is the idea while listening to the disc, to try to milked your grandfather's goats.

NEW VIDEO: Behemoth - Alas The Lord Is Upon Me

NEW VIDEO: Kataklysm - Push The Venom

REVIEW: Eclectika - Dazzling Dawn

The musicians of the group Eclectika are from Dijon, France. Stylistically however, can not be identified or at least on first listen. So I decided to listen to the album again and again until you get nausea. A little later after the fifth listen of the album I thought the band was "brought black / death / gothic metal with space reasons and clean vocals. Bulgarian sentence for this is "dish with grapes". Dazzling Dawn is the third album and the trio Eclectika but it is sufficient to refuse you to look for the other two. Odd squeal of both (!) vocalists Sebastien and Aurelien, mixed with a whimper opera lady in the band Alex, which would hardly be surprised, but also a singer and can bring your digestive system disorders. Their music is definitely difficult to understand, chaotic, if only they understood what they play. We cannot understood anywhere what they want to tell us - on one page in the booklet has a picture with the sun and ... hmm female genitals, in the middle of another there is acastle, round by lightning, the third has a rose with few syringes to it. I really tried to understand them but failed. Perhaps my intellectual level is below them.
Who knows?

Days of Loss – Life is Decay

Days of Loss – Life is Decay

Definitely Austria can be proud of their compatriots and certainly they and other Austrian machine Outrage (see issue. 2) gaining more momentum and strength. Their album is from 2009, but it deserves attention. Death metal! That is, it is in all varieties, here and has a melody and heft, so the best you find it and auscultation. Immortal is one of the all eleven tracks, which in one way or another, you'll love. I will not say what was good and what could be better, there are any people there and many tastes, some will be satisfied and some dissapointed! If there was an evaluation system, I gave him 8.5-9/10.

REVIEW: 1349 "Demonoir"

1349 returns on a cloud of atomic plague with its new audio devastation - "Demonoir". Clever marketing strategy is to share the album for free listening on the Internet, a few days before its official release. Otherwise, the promise is a fact - savage black metal with ambient pieces - Tunnel of Set, who had tunnel to hell, in the words of bassist Seidemann. I would like to mention that the album has nothing to do with last "Revelations of The Black Flame", which was experimental and risky .In "Demonoir" we will enjoy the true black metal, which only 1349 can do. If we exclude ambient conceptual pieces, the album do not have slow song, though the group is defrosted by a long lethargy and they are hungry for new corpses. Boldly say that the album could surpass the success of the "Hellfire", which was set for the best in all their discography in general.

Unleashed Interview

Hi and congratulations for your 10th baby!
Thanks alot! it's a mean baby haha!

What is the feeling when you see your albums finished?
It's always a great feeling of accomplishment course. especially when you get that feeling that nothing could have been done better really.

This is your first album for Nuclear Blast, why did you decide to split up with SPV/STEAMHAMMER?
Well it wasn't so much a descision. they pretty much went under unfortunately. they were good to us and it's a shame something like that could happen to a big label like that.

Do you feel better with your German label?
we feel great working with NB and feel it will be the beginning of a long cooperation!

Great cover of “Evil Dead”, you give respect to DEATH and Chuck, what made you include exactly this song?
thanks! chuck and death are huge inspirations to us and many like us so it was something we've wanted to do for some time actually. why the particular song? it's just a damned good track. but it could have been any of those old ones.

I’ll turn you back in time, why was the big pause between Warrior” и “Hell's Unleashed”?
well basically we were more or less burned out after years of touring constantly. and there were things at home that had to be dealt with. there was never any time frame on it but it definitely turned out a bit longer than we'd expected.

Why did you choose this title for the album and would you tell us something more about the tree Yggdrasil?
basically yggdrasill is the world tree in norse mythology. there's aloto to it and a lot of different levels so i would suggest all to look it up and read about it.

What happens when Yggdrasil trembles?
obviously when the world trembles...it's not a good thing. and it definitely fits the times we live in these days....

Who is the author of the cover art of “As Yggdrasil Trembles”?
it was done by our friend sebastian ramstedt who did the past 2 covers as well.

More than 20 years you are making music, do you manage to live only from it?
not really i'm afraid. we all have to work as well with other things.

What do you think about final decision of your colleagues At the Gates to stop existing? I think that their triple dvd is good end.
well if it's time it's time i guess. noone can decide this but themselves and thats all there is to it. was a great band. i've not seen the dvd but i hope to.

What kind of music do you listen when you have spare time? Do you like some of the newer bands like Annotations of an Autopsy, Job for a Cowboy ect.?
well it's hard to keep up when so much focus goes to all surrounding the band. i like the stuff i always liked basically.

What is the beginning of Unleashed, how did you start everything? How did you decide to name the band Unleashed?
well johnny was out of nihilist and wanted to start up another band. got the members together and thats how it started basically. i'd met him around and he heard i played drums so at a party he asked if i wanted in and i joined.
the name was something he'd thought up and though would be fitting for the spirit of the band. which indeed was right!

What do you know about Bulgaria?
not much i'm afraid but hope to get there soon and find out more!

We’ll be happy, we and all of your warriors here to see you some day! Cheers!
we definitely want to come see you all! thanks and cheers!!
