Fleshrot - Traumatic Reconfiguration
If you only hear the name of the group you must guess what they play. Death, the most brutal death metal. Otherwise the group is very famous in his country (England), there are rumors that they are especially good at playing live. Is it so we can only speculate. Traumatic Reconfiguration album is a mix of brutal death, for which I is mentioned amazingly techical. It is interesting how most songs begin slow and frustrating, and suddenly changed direction to totally articulated bones and torn skin death metal. I have some doubts and wonder whether they used drum machine because their drummer is really good. Or is it very good in smacking of drums, or after each rehearsal leaves a muscle strain in the limbs.
Empyreon - Beyond Perception
Not only that the bands's genre is heavy metal, but is experimental. The band from New York most blatantly lied in his biography. Empyreon is PURE melodic death metal with keyboards who made their sound more rich, which are played by guitarist / keyboardist Mike Khalilov. Fresh group for the passing summer. My only criticism is addressed to the singer whose vocals are quite monotonous. And the last song Beyon Perception? Recognize something?

Advent Fog - The Destruction Of Centuries Old Doctrines
Moldovanian black metal band Advent Fog released a great black metal album - The Destruction Of Centuries Old Doctrines. From the beginning I felt that comes antichristian invasion and after a brief intro to Feeling The Pain with light church grounds begins mid-temp melodic black metal with keyboards forward alleging that accentuated the dark atmosphere. The second song is pretty obvious that has influences from Dimmu Borgir and in particular their album Spiritual Black Dimensions, even the whole band sounds like a black bear cuticle of 93-94 years. Personally I do not interfere with keyboards on the album, but the seats are quite irritating and repetitive. It is interesting to hear and "different" song on the album - instrumental, watery, soft and melodic Affectus in Victoria, obviously dedicated to a girl. It is rare for such an unknown band for me to grab me on first listening, but here it happened. Advent Fog - Moldovanian Dimmu Borgir.
Crematory Interview [August 2010]
Congratulations for your new album. It is very powerful and keeps the
spirit of metal. Do you agree with me?
Thanks for the compliment!
Of course I agree. It is the best album we have ever recorded. We have put all our energy and creativity into it and the result ist pure CREMATORY.
Tell us more about the recording process, any interesting stories?
The target settings were harder, louder faster and darker. That’s what we planned and finally did. I think the most interesting story is that we didn’t have any argues or problems while we have recorded the album. The reason for this might be that we have worked in the same lineup as we did in our previous albums PRAY and KLAGEBILDER. That makes it easy to work together without the need of many words.
Do you "take notes" from bad reviews in the press?
Bad reviews? What’s that? Tell me one review that has been bad.
If there is one We don’t care about because we have success with what we are doing and that’s what counts. Our fans love what we are doing and do not care about critics. At this point we need to thank our fans for their support. They are the best fans of the world!!!
Can you describe with some words the tracks in the album?
There are to many themes to explain all the lyrics. I can tell you that the are typical catchy songs, as well as harder songs in German and English. Just listen to it and you will love it!
What do you think about the new "core-wave" - metalcore, hardcore,
emocore? Is the traditional metal dethroned?
I don’t think so. Each genre has its authority to exist. We do not judge any genre. As long as people like it and buy the CDs everything is fine.
What is the most important lesson, that you've learned over the years?
That you should stay true. If you change your being and loose the contact to the base, earlier or later you will fall and loose everything you have reached. We have never lost our roots because we have learned this lessen with the faults of other musicians.
"A Story About" what?
About you and your life. Just look inside of you and you’ll understand.
How you've managed to keep the Crematory alive in all these years and
still going up and true to it's self?
Funny question. I don’t know. Maybe because we have never lost our roots and have kept the contact to our first fans? Or maybe because we do not do what we do just to earn as much money as possible? Who knows.
"Where are you now"?
Sitting in my office answering your questions and waiting for the dinner with my wife and children.
Thank you for the interview, any last words to the fans in Bulgaria?
We hope to see you all on our concerts. As our tours are still being planned we don’t know where we will be in the next two years. But check our website frequently to be up-to-date.

REVIEW: Sectioned - Purulent Reality
Sectioned - Purulent Reality
In the not very famous town Broadstairs, England in 2006, Zoltan Valter for the Hungarian black gang Frost launches Sectioned. IIin 2007 they release demo "Elme", made some changes to in the line-up ... play live with the beasts from Thanatos and gaining more power. Some songs are long and hope not to bore the fans, because there really is so much to hear in their first album, to be sure just hear Behind My Eyes. Nice to listen death metal, not very fast but this is not equivalent. The vocals stand out plenty, but nothing is perfect in this world. Reminiscent of old school death metal, and that caresses the ear and generally Purulent Reality is a good album.

Interview: 1349
1349 - The Demon reborn.
We present you the basist Seidemann!
With you last album you've changed your style from old school black metal to
experimental-avantgarde black metal. Can we expect something like that with the new one
Demonoir?
Seidemann: Demonoir shows 1349 at its most brutal, aggressive and sinister so it will be a different experience from the previous album. There is an abundance of blastbeasts and riffs played at breakneck speed, and the album will most likely feel like a spiritual successor to Hellfire.
Do you feel need to change the sound and the unique atmosphere of 1349?
S: 1349 is a musical journey to the dark side and as such I feel we have never lost our own unique atmosphere even though the material has been to some weird places. We have now been through most facets of black metal to prove to ourselves and the world
that we understand the true nature of it.
I've noticed that the song names in the album are strange. Is the album conceptual?
S: There is a concept behind the title and the artwork but the album itself is not a
concept album. I guess you are referring to the «Tunnels of Set» that make their
appearances several times during the album. These are the paths to hell and will set the mood properly for the ordeals that follow.
Tell us more about the recording process.
S: We recorded everything at STUDIO STUDIO NYHAGEN, just like the 3 previous albums. The studio is situated in a forest in a sparsely populated area of Norway and is also built on what is believed to be the site of solar worship and sacrifice so as you can guess there is a lot of energy and feeling to the place. Perfect for Demonoir and perfect for 1349.
What was the feeling when the album was entirely finished?
S: Demonoir was a physically and mentally challenging album to record so when we were
finished we were immensely satisfied with the results we had achieved.
Is there any chance to bring your music back to the beginning, so old school and raw?
S: We will not suddenly jump back 10 years and do «liberation» again. We have moved
forward, and the music will evolve along with us. Stagnation is musically and mentally a very debilitating experience.
Did you hear the new album of OV HELL - The Underworld Regime. There plays Teloch from your band. Is he really out of 1349?
S: No, he is not out since he was never really in 1349. He was a session guitarist for us on several gigs and tours.
How would you explain the fast growth of the black metal?
S: Black metal has been around for a long time but if I go along with your question I can say that certain events in the early nineties as well as unrivaled musicianship, dedication and innovation helped black metal grow. Not always in the right directions
mind you.
What is the general idea behind the title of the album - Demonoir?
S: This is a play on words, originating from discussions/suggestions from Frost &
Archaon, and when Frost finally came up with that title we knew it was the right one-
we've used short, hard- hitting album titles before (LIBERATION, HELLFIRE) and we simply liked the taste of this suggestion. It summed up the contents as well as capturing the spiritual vein of 1349.
Who did the artwork of the album?
S: Our friend Kenneth Nilsen who runs a dedicated metal record store here in Oslo.
What can you tell us about the satanic concept in the lyrics. Is it something leading
for 1349?
S: 1349 is a black metal band, so the ideology behind it is of the darker kind, but since we have abstained from exaggerated use of the word Satan in our lyrics I guess few people have seen us as a satanic band. Lyrics must fit the song and must fit the overall mood and spirit in the band. Thematically we have always been in the realms of the «satanic» as we are all ego-sentric and gods of our own lives. When all this is said I personally write lyrics based on all possible realms of influences, most notably horror writers like H.P.Lovecraft and Clive Barker, but also from mundane hapenings like the inconcievable stupidity of the human race.
What should we expect next from you?
S: As always you must expect the unexpected. We will be out touring and playing festivals a lot this year with Frost behind the kit, so expect aural Hellfire wherever we go.
Thank you very much for this interview, say something to your fans in Bulgaria.

REVIEW: Iconocaust - Judas Complex
[BAD REVIEW WARNING]
"And the Lord said to them - propagate in this land". And then thousands of metalcore bands flooded the world. And we shrieked at the beginning. Throughout all the trash we can hardly understand which group is which - all sounded the same. So it is with band from Colorado Iconocaust and their new album Judas Complex. Here's what critics say for them. "Melodic brutality filled with originality". "Really one of the most talented bands of today". Oh, big words, but lacking any coverage. Just listen to the clean vocals in the song Lies of the Betrayer and see that some people just are not up to sing. The playing is on a good level, but offers us nothing new. And personally I think that melodic death metal or metalcore should not be shoved into "religious" framework, as done by the group because it is funny. On some sites have really fresh ideas, especially the song Nazi's Torch. Not bad to read the text of this piece, its cool! It is only song, that a total of nine songs I liked.
REVIEW: Morowe - Pieklo.Labirynty.Diably
"Morowe a lethal mix of melancholy and chaos. Morowe is the devil's breath in your neck. In case of contact with blood - burn and infect her, when it reaches the heart - it kills it". This is written in the biography of the Polish death / black metal band Morowe. Pretty cold and dark is the new album "Pieklo.Labirynty.Doably.". Slow, depressing and chilling sound simultaneously, combining modern technique of death metal as Behemoth and progressive outpourings such as Ihsahn and Peccatum. The album was recorded in 2008-2009 in Poland, but unknown reasons (probably financial) sees the light of day until June 2010-a. Deserves to be heard! The band shows full devotion to Satan and darkness, and we poured with aggressive music and once again prove that the Polish metal scene continues to grow and is a worthy competitor to the big monsters. I recommend to listen to eight songs, but those who are not familiar with the Polish language like me, can not understand anything, because all the album lyrics are in Polish.

REVIEW: Milking The Goatmachine - Back From The Goats
Did you ever milked a goat? It's Extreme. And it smells pretty bad. Just like the new musical sensation "Milking The Goatmachine". Back to the Goats e filled with good "melodies" and fresh ideas. Under the wing of Nuclear Blast, the gang with goat masks plays brutal death-core with funny song titles such as Sour Milk Boogie, Surf Goataragua, Feed The Goat. Cruel is a mockery with Bolt Thrower in the song Goat Thrower. In the flood of metal bands market lately, milker of the goats are distinguished by their style of playing, low-tuned guitars and jokingly changing our perceptions of brutal lyrics. Once again be convinced that Nuclear Blast do not have random groups. If you are a fan of herd animals, this is your album. Particularly perverse is the idea while listening to the disc, to try to milked your grandfather's goats.
REVIEW: Eclectika - Dazzling Dawn
The musicians of the group Eclectika are from Dijon, France. Stylistically however, can not be identified or at least on first listen. So I decided to listen to the album again and again until you get nausea. A little later after the fifth listen of the album I thought the band was "brought black / death / gothic metal with space reasons and clean vocals. Bulgarian sentence for this is "dish with grapes". Dazzling Dawn is the third album and the trio Eclectika but it is sufficient to refuse you to look for the other two. Odd squeal of both (!) vocalists Sebastien and Aurelien, mixed with a whimper opera lady in the band Alex, which would hardly be surprised, but also a singer and can bring your digestive system disorders. Their music is definitely difficult to understand, chaotic, if only they understood what they play. We cannot understood anywhere what they want to tell us - on one page in the booklet has a picture with the sun and ... hmm female genitals, in the middle of another there is acastle, round by lightning, the third has a rose with few syringes to it. I really tried to understand them but failed. Perhaps my intellectual level is below them.
Who knows?

Days of Loss – Life is Decay
Days of Loss – Life is Decay
Definitely Austria can be proud of their compatriots and certainly they and other Austrian machine Outrage (see issue. 2) gaining more momentum and strength. Their album is from 2009, but it deserves attention. Death metal! That is, it is in all varieties, here and has a melody and heft, so the best you find it and auscultation. Immortal is one of the all eleven tracks, which in one way or another, you'll love. I will not say what was good and what could be better, there are any people there and many tastes, some will be satisfied and some dissapointed! If there was an evaluation system, I gave him 8.5-9/10.

REVIEW: 1349 "Demonoir"
1349 returns on a cloud of atomic plague with its new audio devastation - "Demonoir". Clever marketing strategy is to share the album for free listening on the Internet, a few days before its official release. Otherwise, the promise is a fact - savage black metal with ambient pieces - Tunnel of Set, who had tunnel to hell, in the words of bassist Seidemann. I would like to mention that the album has nothing to do with last "Revelations of The Black Flame", which was experimental and risky .In "Demonoir" we will enjoy the true black metal, which only 1349 can do. If we exclude ambient conceptual pieces, the album do not have slow song, though the group is defrosted by a long lethargy and they are hungry for new corpses. Boldly say that the album could surpass the success of the "Hellfire", which was set for the best in all their discography in general.
Unleashed Interview
Hi and congratulations for your 10th baby!
Thanks alot! it's a mean baby haha!
What is the feeling when you see your albums finished?
It's always a great feeling of accomplishment course. especially when you get that feeling that nothing could have been done better really.
This is your first album for Nuclear Blast, why did you decide to split up with SPV/STEAMHAMMER?
Well it wasn't so much a descision. they pretty much went under unfortunately. they were good to us and it's a shame something like that could happen to a big label like that.
Do you feel better with your German label?
we feel great working with NB and feel it will be the beginning of a long cooperation!
Great cover of “Evil Dead”, you give respect to DEATH and Chuck, what made you include exactly this song?
thanks! chuck and death are huge inspirations to us and many like us so it was something we've wanted to do for some time actually. why the particular song? it's just a damned good track. but it could have been any of those old ones.
I’ll turn you back in time, why was the big pause between Warrior” и “Hell's Unleashed”?
well basically we were more or less burned out after years of touring constantly. and there were things at home that had to be dealt with. there was never any time frame on it but it definitely turned out a bit longer than we'd expected.
Why did you choose this title for the album and would you tell us something more about the tree Yggdrasil?
basically yggdrasill is the world tree in norse mythology. there's aloto to it and a lot of different levels so i would suggest all to look it up and read about it.
What happens when Yggdrasil trembles?
obviously when the world trembles...it's not a good thing. and it definitely fits the times we live in these days....
Who is the author of the cover art of “As Yggdrasil Trembles”?
it was done by our friend sebastian ramstedt who did the past 2 covers as well.
More than 20 years you are making music, do you manage to live only from it?
not really i'm afraid. we all have to work as well with other things.
What do you think about final decision of your colleagues At the Gates to stop existing? I think that their triple dvd is good end.
well if it's time it's time i guess. noone can decide this but themselves and thats all there is to it. was a great band. i've not seen the dvd but i hope to.
What kind of music do you listen when you have spare time? Do you like some of the newer bands like Annotations of an Autopsy, Job for a Cowboy ect.?
well it's hard to keep up when so much focus goes to all surrounding the band. i like the stuff i always liked basically.
What is the beginning of Unleashed, how did you start everything? How did you decide to name the band Unleashed?
well johnny was out of nihilist and wanted to start up another band. got the members together and thats how it started basically. i'd met him around and he heard i played drums so at a party he asked if i wanted in and i joined.
the name was something he'd thought up and though would be fitting for the spirit of the band. which indeed was right!
What do you know about Bulgaria?
not much i'm afraid but hope to get there soon and find out more!
We’ll be happy, we and all of your warriors here to see you some day! Cheers!
we definitely want to come see you all! thanks and cheers!!

REVIEW: Absu - Absu CD
Night. Thunderbirds illuminated starless night (got to repeat!). ... Temple altar. A dozen people dressed in robes sing something in a language unknown. Priest emerged from the darkness and fire calls in the eyes of the evil spirit, while stuck the knife into the flesh of a virgin. Such images came to my mind when I listen to Absu's music (somewhat has Irish fairies and wizards). But in their latest self-titled album, the musicians seem to have depth even deeper into the mythology and occultism. And those unnecessary miles long names of songs? Who needs this? Yet the band is very good, not argue. Do not believe it will surpass the success achieved by TARA, but it did. Absu running better trampled path led by their drummer ... this awesome freak. One of my favorites in the past year.

Bullet For My Valentine, Kids In Glass Houses

Catamenia - "We wanted to kill the wolf!" - INTERVIEW
1.Congratulations for the new album 'Cavalcade'. You have released album just last year. Isn’t it too soon for a new one?
Ari: Thank You! In many other band’s case it would be, but we have used to this working tempo. Actually this time we started composing much earlier compared to most of past albums. I been always wondering how the hell some big names can spend over a year in studio and get nothing proper done? Let’s say that if we would be punished to wait three years before next album and one of those should be spend in studio, most likely that kills us in boredom. Or, there would be not double, but triple album with 140 songs, heheh.
2.What is the meaning of the title 'Cavalcade'?
Ari: In this case you had to inspect word ‘Cavalcade’ from whole different aspect than it’s meant to understand. Like in title song last line of chorus goes: ‘Broken heroes on the wings of history, watching another sorrow’s cavalcade’. As it always has been, that no one can conquer and rule without spreading innocent blood and destruction. We wanted to dig this little sting from celebrated victor’s heart and put it back as blades of conscience while all he killed are watching. It’s strange how books and stories introduces all the genocides and ravages of cultures as polished and are shown as great deed. Of course history is written by rulers, but let’s read the small text between the lines. We hit back and make people imagine those things from aspect of dominated one, what an nice view! Actually same thing is with present day, except now the force is money besides blade and of course as a horse of Troy works still good old religion. And still, no progress in learning from past! You can fall in one day, no matter how strong you are. Let’s take USA for example. They were so busy with negotiations for trademark of God, that they forget to pay the debts which their economy is leaning on. Now, about rest of the world owns them. So trust to that God of yours now!
3.I've noticed that the artwork of the album does not have wolves this time. This is something new for you, do you change the path?
Ari: Yes, we wanted to kill the wolf! In some point we realised that there is about ten bands using wolf as a trademark and that’s not unique anymore. Our music was changing and we decide that what the hell, let’s shake it for good then! This releases us from weight of past’s obligations and gave us a freedom to move to any direction we wanted. Now we have at least shown that it’s not the wolf who plays and makes the music, hehe. So, now there’s only nine bands with wolf as a symbol, hahah. Maybe…there is something new anxiously waiting behind the corner to be introduced as our ‘trademark’. See, no pressure with that either anymore, whatever will happen it happens then.
4.Can you describe what emotions and atmosphere will bring the new album and say something for each song (if possible)?
Ari: The golden point of this album would be that it carries you thru all emotions with their variations. Even thou it sounds simple on first listen, there are so many layers and meanings in musically and lyrically that it takes several listens until it opens fully. Best what you can get from this album is that on every listen you find something new or think other ways lyrics you thought you knew already. I don’t want to put words into people mouth or tell what you should feel and think with the songs. That would spoil the awarding feeling of discovering something new, sorry, heheh.
5.Days before the official release, I've found your album posted in some download sites, the bands normally hate this, but dont you think that this is some kind of advertising for you?
Ari: Eh, this is something that these days happens every time when band is releasing album. You just had to live with it, not fight with it (except lost case Lars Ulrich ). Of course it has good and bad sides. For us, cause we are not worldwide superstars, that is good promotion. Someone who wouldn’t normally ever bump to our music might crash with it this way. On the other hand, the quality of CD’s on download sites can be total crap. Also, with downloading you won’t help artists to continue their careers and support tours. The thing is, that more people buy real copies, we have chance to do tours and of course that can help us to get paid from work we have done. The ideal way to use download thing would be that people listen music from there, and if you find something you really like, then you go and buy real copy to support that artist. Of course there are cases when someone fights with surviving without money. I fully understand that he more likely buy the bread instead some CD. Actually, in those cases it is great if they get even little better day with music they like.
6.Did anything change for one year (between Time Unchained and 'Cavalcade') in Catamenia and in your lives?
Ari: Yeah, I think musically we are more mature now. Something unexpected just click and we changed our direction, all in good ways. Also we don’t use so much alcohol anymore. I calculated that we use ten percent less booze now. This comes ‘cause Riku quit drinking, yes yes, I know that it should make fifth, about 20 percent, but rest of us try harder now All the respect to him for that. It’s not an easy task to be sober in this kind bunch of alcoholics. I see that as one reason for our musical evolution. Maybe it’s time to all of us to get sober!
7.I know that you are "far far away" from the black metal label (you've said that to me like a thousand times in the last interview :D), but I must ask what is the genre of 'Cavalcade'?
Ari: Oh shit! Now it’s even harder to categorise us. I don’t even try . Or hell yes…we play BlackNordicDarkMelancholicPowerMelodicTrashPunkShitClassicTripAlcohol-Metal! I’m not sure about that Trash, but what the heck, there it is mentioned anyways. Seriously, what about Melodic Nordic Metal?
8.Did you have any side-projects now?
Ari: No, I have already too much with my two dayjobs plus this. Our drummer Mikko has couple of sidekicks called Corpse Molester Cult and The Undivine.
9.So many line-up changes over the years,I think this is the best formations for the moment. What do you think?
Ari: Yes, this is THE line-up! Somebody lately said that ‘This time if someone gets los or leaves the band, it sucks big time!’. That sentence came after our ex-keyboardist desiced to stay in Moscow after one of our Russian tour and former vocalist missed his flight at Paris airport when we were going on a tour in Canada.
10. About two years ago when Mikko and I spoke on the phone, he told me that the next time you play here, he will bring me some finnish girl hidden in his backpak. Is there any chances...for the show again, not the girl?
Ari: Hahhah, well Mikko can’t get girls other ways than hijacking them into his backpack! Would be awesome to play there again and there are good chances for that. We are currently negotiating for few tours so there is possibility to gig/ gigs there. Let’s keep our bottles crossed for that!
11.It's kind of tradition lately - every band to release bonus DVD with their albums. Don’t you have enough video material to do it?
Ari: Hahhah, our video material is spreading around the Net! We hope that someday we can do another Live-DVD, because old one is bad and it doesn’t represent Catamenia well enough anymore. Also there are different plans for our tenth album and it will definitely contain shitloads of bonus material thru all these years. That’s something to keep you on your toes, right, hehe?
12. With this freezing cold in Finland, you must be really depressed. Is this the main stimulation for the music you create?
Ari: Nah, it’s only minus 16 degrees and that’s not so cold. Seriously, of course this northern dimension has it’s own influence on our music. But I see that the main thing is that there is right guys in the band. Like thru Catamenia’s history, if someone doesn’t fit perfectly in band, he won’t last long!
13. Any future activities?
Ari: Rehearsals of live set! Rehearsals of liver, that it won’t get used to this easy ‘not so drunken’ life! Rehearsals of live set! Rehearsals of liver…You know the drill!
Thanks for the interview.
You are the best !!!
Ari: Thank You Niko! Hope to see you soon on tour. We’ll pack some random Finnish girl at Helsinki airport to Mikko’s backpack for you
Cheers!
